Re: Large round skylight source

I would just contact each yurt manufacturer you find and ask them. There are plenty advertised on this site alone.

Re: New yurt, mold issue

Re: Permitting a yurt

You will need to talk to your local compliance officials. Highly unlikely there is someone here from that county that can help you.

Re: Do portable air conditioners work in yurts?

I have a mini-split in my home, not in my yurt but it would be an easy install in a yurt. They are VERY quiet and ductless. You would mount the indoor unit on the studs, assuming your yurt has one.

Re: Permanent Yurt (Styled-Home) Foundation Help

I will leave this main question on this for people like Bob, but you might want to check out some of the hard sided yurt manufacturers like Freedom Yurts or Smiling Wood Yurts.. They have a lot of...

How to get snow off the yurt roof

This is how I generally do it every year. The only difference this year was that I finally remembered to record it. :)

Re: Deliberating getting a yurt for part time use in PNW

If you have the option of leaving a dehumidifier there that can drain, that might alleviate any mold issues. If you decide to get a yurt, don't do any aftermarket insulating of the interior. Just...

Re: Anyone purchase a Smiling Woods Yurt?

I think that is a pretty awesome solution and frankly, other yurt manufacturers should consider designing such an add-on. I would probably put one on my yurt!

Re: Thru the wall wood stove

On mine, I used the through-the-wall kit I got from Pacific Yurts but I also used insulated pipe going through the wall, whereas many just use regular. In over 10 years, never had an issue.

Re: Serious mould issue

The only way I know of is to wash it in a vinegar based cleaner, like 80% vinegar to 20% water, but I think you would want to rinse that out of the material otherwise the odor would probably be...

Re: Serious mould issue

Yurts MUST be able to breathe. It sounds like you over-insulated it and made it too airtight. Not sure which fabrics you are using, but you are going to have to kill the mould off of them. Most...

Re: Wood Stove Installation

I have not gone through the roof, but I advise against cutting any hole in your roof. If you are going to do this, go through the center ring. Cutting a hole in your roof will basically void your...

Re: Pacific Yurt Gutters

The main purpose of all gutters is to direct the flow of water. There are many reasons why one might do this, soil erosion, rainwater capture, etc..

Re: Adding a Kitchen to Yurt

My gas on the oven won't turn on until the second pilot heats up the valve, then it opens up the next valve. Most of these Amish friendly pilot-only stoves have a lot of safety features built-in. ...

Re: Adding a Kitchen to Yurt

Yes, an inside camping stove is against code in any structure just about anywhere. My stove is a typical gas range with a pilot light. It looks similar to this.

Yes, I have it piped in via copper. Definitely do your due diligence if you are going to be renting out your yurt. You will want all the safety bells and whistles.

For myself, I have shutoffs...
