Default Thru the wall wood stove

I am finally furnishing my PY and about to install a used woodstove. -Woodstock co only sells a few a year for yurts and has no info on this question.

Reading up on chimney support here has been very helpful.
As a novice to installation of wood stove in yurts, I reached my end point. Safety seems to dictate several inches clearance (beyond pipe diameter or flashing that PY carries) thru yurt wall. There is no thimble for thin walls, so how do you create that safe passage clearance. I’ve wondered if a support could be created on either side of the wall as it passes through??

The attached PDF should be helpful as it includes photographs of the installation. The insulated pipe is rated at 2" from the nearest combustible surface. We recommend cutting the hole in the side cover and wall

insulation

so that it does not come within 2 inches of touching the pipe (even though the fabric is flame resistant). The stove flashing is essentially a "wall thimble" designed specifically for the yurt and is what provides support to the short horizontal length of pipe. You are always welcome to give our Customer Service reps a call to discuss the installation procedure or if you have question.

Thank you. My research had indicated more like 6” space needed so I thought the flashing wouldn’t be enough. And I didn’t realize that PY walls were not considered combustible.
Somehow I got the idea that flammable and combustible as two different degrees of risk.

On mine, I used the through-the-wall kit I got from

Pacific Yurts

but I also used insulated pipe going through the wall, whereas many just use regular. In over 10 years, never had an issue.
