Default Wall lean

Hello All,

We have a 30' yurt that has gradually developed a 10 degree lean on the downwind side.

There is a loft that anchors the upwind side, so the Yurt is not really in danger of immediately blowing down, but we would like to fix the lean before it gets worse.

One theory is that the

tension cable

has stretched due to numerous wind storms, and the slack worked its way to the downwind side.

Is there a recommended approach to fixing this? I was contemplating removing the roof, pulling the wall into plumb with a strap and winch attached to the loft, tightening the cable a few inches, and then rebuilding the roof. Would like an easier approach. Any comments are appreciated, thanks!

Andrew

Is this a homemade yurt or one made by a manufacturer? If the latter, what manufacturer?

It was made by

Blue Ridge Yurts

. Apparently the design is similar to Pacific Yurts

Blue Ridge is a pretty reputable company. I would just give them a call or shoot them an email and ask. Designs are really different between manufacturers. They really should not lean. We know too little about your yurt though to make a proper diagnoses. If you had some pics of the inside and outside, especially the walls, we might have some ideas.

My small homemade nomadic yurt gets a very slight lean maybe a degree from years of wind pushing the same direction. It doesn't bother me, I know that yurt is solid. Also I don't live in it. I think I would have to disassemble the yurt to fix the lean. Not worth it.

Ten degrees is a BIG lean. I would contact the company. I have no idea how to correct a lean like that. Good luck.
