You could file a civil suit for the cost of the poorly-made yurt, and then use that money to buy one from a more reputable company. I don't see how you could lose a lawsuit against this company considering what you've been through.

Then again, there are attorney fees and such, so I'm not sure if it will be worth it in the end. I just think it's only fair if SM is made to pay some kind of restitution so that you can continue pursuing your yurt dream.

With all of the actions against her I seriously wonder if there are any assets to go after. She could even be operating under a different company name now and she'd be suing a defunct company. I think it doesnt have a whole lot of chances, but, the avenue to go I think is the small claims court route.

Attorney fees on this would add up very fast.

The best thing we can do is spread the word. At the time things fell a part with our Yurt we had no more money to even get an attorney involved and I believe we have passed the statute of limitation on a lawsuit according to N.M. attorney general. Unless a class action suit gets filed we are out of options.

They are indeed still in operation under a new name this year, Fortress Yurts! Hopefully people do their research PRIOR to buying from this company!
