Heh, I had a supervisor once that told of racing a VW bug when he was in high school--he and a friend had two engines, a smaller weekday one and a larger weekend/performance engine. They'd swap engines on Friday, go racing, swap back to the smaller engine on Sunday. Sounded like they could pick the thing up without a hoist. Wish it were so easy for my 80's toyota...
For reference: regarding cotton canvas in the PNW, it takes finesse and thoughtful care but is doable, from what I here. operates to some degree out of Seattle and has some good info on their page about mold & mildew protection/management. See here. Leaving a canvas yurt in the back forty in the woods without regular heating/drying probably would not work out...
