Cheap window coverings

We have 5 Rainer yurts that need replacement window covers . The manufacturer wants $470 per window cover. Anyone know of cheaper, knockoff versions?

$470 seems very reasonable in todays economic climate. Don't forget they are a biz and attempting to keep the biz afloat. The only altenative I can think of that would be cheaper would be to do the work yourself. Then you have to figure it all out yourself. $470 seems very reasonable to me, under the circumstances. My windows became so brittle and yellowed after about 8 years (in full sun), I replaced them myself. Bought vinyl at JoAnn Fabrics (mistake - those lasted less than two years before cracking apart). This time I bought marine vinyl online. I do careful take the windows apart and reused the velcro and outer banding (?). Just got a quote from an nearby shop with a heavy duty sewing machine for $50 to sew each 4’by4’ window. I don’t remember what I paid for the marine vinyl online. Somewhere between $100-$200 for 12’ to replace the 3 windows.

All and all much cheaper than new windows. Though perhaps the marine vinyl I bought won’t be as good or reusing the velcro will cause problems or I won’t be happy with the local shop’s work. Will try and update in a couple years. ��

Update on the (somewhat) homemade windows. The boat upholstery shop that sewed the windows for $50 each did an okay sewing job. It was a bit rough. But I put the windows up and so far all is good. We’ll see how long the marine vinyl I bought online holds up. And if reusing the velcro and other parts off the old windows causes any issues. So far I’d say, no.

I will say I don’t remove the windows once in place, so not a lot of stress on the sewed velcro. I mostly open doors for venting. And on the very rare occasion - the

dome

. Though NEVER open the

dome

in the winter. That is asking for trouble, IMO. Frozen clumps of ice making reclosing difficult, torn parts, etc.
