I agree with getting the plans from the Yurt Foundation, the Bill Coperthwaite ones. I have lived in two of his yurts in Alaska (hard climate) and loved them both.
I also participated in a build in Idaho. It was several years ago but for a small single yurt the costs were under $20,000. That did not include windows that were added later.
I believe this design is delightful to live in and a great value. I'm sure the materials would cost a bit more now but it is still very affordable compared to a box.
Still hoping to build my own concentric one of these days.

It sounds as though you live in Maine. Why not a road trip to visit Dickenson's Reach and see Bill's amazing 3 ring yurt?

We published a book about building a wood-framed panelized yurt and have already had one person send us photos of the yurt they built using our instructions! It's available on Amazon. But also, our blog, wildcatman.wordpress.com has a lot of free information about the process, including sizing up our 16' design as well as a complete materials cost list.
