I found this part interesting:

The shape of a yurt allows it to stand up well under even heavy snow. But an uneven load, with heavy, wind-driven snow piling up in one area and little or no snow in another, can threaten its sturdiness, says Ivy Fife, marketing director for Colorado Yurt.

I never thought about that.
