You should get a metal wood ring. You can usually find them at yard sales or on Craigslist. I got one for my camp for $5. Keeps the wood off the floor let's you store more inside.

We have just ordered a 32' yurt from

. We live in Northwestern Ontario, and plan to live in the yurt. We will be using foam

insulation

in the platform, but I am wondering if we should also install foam weather stripping between the walls and the platform to eliminate any drafts? Thanks.

I did that on mine and it does help. If you are going to use a wood stove, one of the big things you can do is to vent combustion air from outside.
