Yurt Forum Updates 2/23

I started this sub-forum today for news and announcements. I am constantly working on little projects here, and if I think it is important to keep everyone up to date on those things I can publicly speak about. Some things relating to site security, secret sauce, etc., I cannot always be as candid about.

Here is what I have been doing lately:

  • Defining keywords/tags for important yurt topics. Our tag list is an ongoing process. Many users who come here are hearing about yurts for the first time. Much of the jargon is unknown to them, so I am trying to build up a database of such terms to add to their experience here. For example, most people do not know what a center ring is, and our site will auto-link it many times in most posts, like it has in this one.
  • Fixed some bugs in the photo albums and added a search feature to it.
  • Optimized the site a bit by caching more of the data.
  • Added one more picture to the film strip on the homepage.
  • Added search to the header bar for quicker access.
  • Back-end search history analysis.
  • Some basic SEO improvements.
 
I wanted to post this as a new thread, but I think I misunderstood the purpose of the "Yurt Forum Site News" category and received the virtual smackdown for my impertinence :) My question was, is the "poll" thing a new feature, or have I been missing it all along?
But as long as I'm hijacking your "Updates 2/23" thread I'll add my general praise and exultation of the work you have done and continue to do on this site. It has become a valuable resource to me, and I look forward to watching it grow. Serious, serious kudos to you.

This sub forum I only allow me to start new threads so as to keep everything on topic. :) Polls have been a feature since day 1. Feel free to start any poll you want (except in this sub forum lol!).

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have been trying to put every spare moment I can into the site and it is nice to hear good things from everyone! :)
 
Yep, still an option. :) When you start a new THREAD you will see the option for it:
