So far - I've gotten the lights & now am making a bunting to go around the yurt. I'll hopefully post pictures when I can.

Oh man, I'm still young enough to be all over this. I would recommend Chinese lanterns (the electric kind) in the rafters, a nice rug on the ground, and some balloons, but the plain kind in a single color or two, not the shiny kind with pictures. Since it is a party I would create a seating area for the young people made out of big fancy pillows and bean bags if you have/can borrow any. If you could borrow/rent one of those silly machines that do light affects and then put in a decent music player (one that connects to a phone for people to play their tunes over would be amazing) and then it's just food and drink. I would also recommend doing virgin cocktails. My parents did that for my sweet 16 and even though there was no alcohol in them I felt super grown up and my friends were all super impressed and they were just non-alcoholic mohitos and strawberry daiquiris. Hope your daughter has a blast!

Thanks Mimsy!

I've got twinkle lights, fabric pennants, multi colored tissue paper balls to hang from the ceilings - plus the rugs, pads, couch etc...

Then I've got a sheet to hang up & have a battery powered projector for them to show a movie from my iPad once it gets dark. We will be doing bbq & s'mores over the campfire.

Hubby is going up today to get set up & I'll bring girls over tomorrow - very exciting. Will post pictures next week. Wish me luck.

I think the hardest part will be teenage girls using a porta potty at night in a popup type tent for privacy. or the choice of waiting till morning to come into our tiny cabin with the siblings and parents. ;) we will see. :)
