Loft size

Among many other things, I'm thinking about how big a loft I can get away with. I'm wrestling with the balance of maximizing space without sacrificing ventilation (or some other factor I haven't thought of).
We're going to get a Colorado or Pacific yurt to go with our 20' platform. Going with a tall-wall, we can make a very functional loft, and I'm considering going halfway across the yurt with it.

If I were to do that, I would go with half the loft. Much easier to heat for one thing.

You mean, like, half the footprint as loft?

Meaning instead of creating a complete second floor, just make half that space a loft. You can see some examples here:

Dan, we have a few different designs that we've drafted for clients that incorporate a loft. One of them goes across a third and then comes out just over the center, giving a sleeping loft just under the dome. That design incorporates a kitchen underneath the projecting loft, a bedroom and bathroom under the rest of the loft... It keeps a nice, open feel and gives the loft space.

Thanks for the ideas. This is one of those things where the creativity can really run and create some beautiful, functional spaces. I just needed some visions to start with Any other imaginative ideas are welcome!
