Help! Trouble shifting roof on a 27' yurt

It is just my husband and I rasing as we moved to a new state snd dont really know anyone. We managed to get the roof up, uncolded and almost in place yesterday. However it needs adjusted about a foot and we cant get this sucker to move :( any ideas or advice for some first time yurt raisers? We are so close we can taste it and we really need to finish this today as the hotel stays have been sucking us dry lol

I would call Colorado yurts if I were you. we may not be able to help you as quick as they will. could you post us some pictures of what you're dealing with?

If you piched your yurt with the roof too low, and you have the bulk of the rafters in place, it is gonna be a miserable mother trying to raise the ring height. I suggest you contact the yurt maker for the proper ring height, and make a stand to set it at the correct height BEFORE any rafters are installed. Also ask the yurt maker for the suggested tension cable length. Once that is known set the cable to length, install it at the top of the wall, and THEN start setting the rafters.

Hope this helps. Good luck

Oh the ring height is correct. It is the roof material itself that we are having trouble getting shifted into position. I called Colorado yurt and he gave me some tips but still unsure of how well we will be able to pull it off. We will be trying to get in in place tomorrow as Sunday is supposed to be bad rain all day unfortunately.

Hopefully by now you have gotten the yurt completed, but I thought I'd offer you some help just in case (I just saw the post). Using a hair dryer or leaf blower you can 'float' the top cover to make adjustments much more easily. This is done by blowing an air pocket between the roof insulation and the top cover itself from the dome opening. Once the top cover is 'floating' you can give it a tug in the appropriate direction to shift it. I hope this helps!
