Default Stove floor_backing plate. Alu, steel, tiles ..

There are serveral options for the floorplate for a woodstove, but when i ask the shops about they all say 'yes, it work foor wooden floors'. I have my doubts so i ask here.
What is a good floorplate (lower the price happy me).

Somehow i feel alu 3 mill is a good option as alu bounces the heat back and that also covers my next q'n as for the backing plate.

Stones are not an option due the weight issue and isolation wool is not ideal due to the toxic fibres so again i thought 5 mill alu will do the trick, but im not sure.

I love to read your day to day experiences what works and what not based on your everday life experiences.

I used cement board under my wood stove. Cheap as can be and worked great for several years. You could probably use Durarock or Hardibacker for tile underlayment. All are found at your big box builders centers.

Nonflammable corrugated sheet goods are great on vertical surfaces that allow air circulation between them and the substrate they are attached to. 2" is a good gap so furr the wall out with 2x and apply the panel. All kinds of old cabins have a version of that behind the stove and the wall/stack.

I second the cement board. I tiled slate on top of it and it looks great and is very functional.
