I am ordering a 16 foot yurt from
in Oregon.
It will be placed in Seattle, within a grove of evergreen trees. So it will be shaded and protected. We are specifying roof and wall
My concern is for
.
I don't want to use a wood stove, as a stove takes a lot of square footage, and it is a heat hazard.
We do not have natural gas on the site, so a gas heater is not possible.
However, there is a good electric service, up to 14KW.
I don't want a heat pump, as it is noisy, which takes away the aesthetic of being in the woods.
So I am thinking about floor radiant heat. I am considering using SunTouch Heater mats, or TapeMat.
The yurt is 200 sq. ft, and I figure I can layout 115 sq ft with 2 feet clearance from the wall. The spec for the tape mat is 12W/sq feet, which yields 1380 W.
It rains a bit here, snow once or twice in the winter.
And it can stay for about one or two weeks a maximum.
Is 1380 W enough heat for a moist Seattle winter?
Thanks for your help
