My 16' Home Scratch Build Yurt
My homemade yurt. Work in progress.
This is my chicken yurt. I built it after moving back to civilization, I missed my yurt so much :D (The plan is to use it out at the yurt as a saw...
Finally got around to painting the door.
My wood stove.
My door, recycled.
Backup heater and wood pile. (I crack the door 1 inch and have two CO detectors).
Interior shot from winter of 2013/14.
New vinyl cover made from recycled underground vent tubes.

Poles going up.
You can see my custom metal roof ring. Very solid!
Walls go up.
Continuing the process.
New site.
Platform framework.
Removing the roof poles.
Single layer foiled insulation.
One-man tear down begins (I tore the yurt down and relocated it across my property, alone, to prove a point).
August 2014. Yurt sits on 3' platform (very cold until snow filled in around the yurt).
A string of "natural" colored LEDs add a bit of atmosphere to the place.
Everything is buttoned down and closed up. I fired up my little Mr. Heater Buddy it was 29F at the time and was able to get the temp up to 45 in 15...
My little bother is nearly 7 feet tall and he was instrumental in getting the cover up over the top of the yurt.
I am pleased with how quickly it went up. Family came into town for Thanksgiving, I took advantage of that! (a big meal followed :) )
I didn't have enough time to build the doors for the yurt, so I salvaged an old one. I'll pick up with door construction in the spring.
I used clamps as a jig, they helped keep my edges even around the yurt.
