My first yurt, 16ft, rough.
This was my first yurt build. It was 16ft across.
Made of untreated pine, except for the tono, which was horrible old plywood and pine boxing.
It was a great first yurt project, quick and fun, and I made lots of mistakes along the way.
The final finished yurt wasn't great, but it was good enough for temporary living, and I did live in it for a month or two.
The canvas sides were from an old scout-tent, and the roof was just a tarp.
Mostly I used it at festivals, as a huge tent with heating for sub-zero conditions.
My second yurt build was much better, with the lessons I'd learned from this first attempt.
The old canvas tent for the wall cover even had the original windows in it. Convenient!

Crappy tono. It was a useful lesson for how not to do it.
Rae helping with the bolting on the khana.
Living in it for a couple of months, in Wellington, New Zealand. Plywood door.
I had 240v electricity in this one.

Grass floor! I was too poor to afford a floor cover.
