I used to live near Fairbanks, AK and knew a girl who lived up there year round in a super insulated Nomad Shelter yurt and loved it.

You might consider going to Homer and looking at their yurts in person, I've heard they have a really cool facility. And hey, go catch some halibut for me while you're out there.
