Smile Big leap, small impact

Aloha everyone!

My husband and I recently made the big leap of leaving washington state, sold most of our "stuff" and moved to Hawaii.

We have an acre of land that we purchased last year, and we're finally on the ground now ready to get things started the dream is becoming reality for us, FINALLY

While we're still working on floor plans, and placement of things... we are in the initial phases. but it's soooo exciting!!!!

Our property as it stands currently has never been cleared, touched or lived on... by humans

We are super excited to break free of the mortgage shackles and looking forward to living life on our own terms, sustainably and off-grid.

We're going with a 30ft yurt, clearing only what is necessary to maintain the beauty of it's current state and to add to our privacy at the jungle hut

While I don't have much to report yet, I wanted to introduce myself!

ps: working with Yurts of Hawaii!!!

Congrats. You are in good hands with Melissa at Yurts of Hawaii! She will get you set up the right way, from permitting to structure. Hawaii has its share of shady yurt people so you have lucked out by getting the best on your first try.

Please keep us posted!

Exclamation Re: Big leap, small impact

Thank you for the kind words so far!

This has definitely been a journey, and making ALL of our friends back on the mainland jealous

It's really been very interesting to see people's reactions when we tell them what we're doing... but coming out here to the island, people get it. It's not for everyone... it's definitely for us!

On a side note, my father in-law is an architect... and i'm having some wild ideas for this yurt. If I can make my idea come to fruition, which i really really really hope works (fingers crossed) I will keep everyone informed on the build from all my research on the interwebs, no one has done this before!
