I’m having a hard time visualizing how a "segmented polygon" lattice would work with a cable that seems to want a "round" shape to evenly support the rafters.
Seems that whatever you decide to try it will be quite a learning experience.......I'd get started on one as a prototype ASAP, expecting to learn a lot about the practicality of your ideas and about mods for better future builds.
