Really fascinating to hear about Ger living in Mongolia - Thankyou UKAdventurer! I have also wondered about importing felt from Mongolia to Europe - do you have experience of this?

Cheers

I don’t have any personal experience exporting anything Mongolia. Usually it’s the other way around. However I know a Dutch guy who exports whole gers from Mongolia to the rest of the world. I’ll ask him.

This is what my ger manufacturer friend says about exporting to Latvia:

“Not easy but can do. Three ways:

Shared truck spacethrough Russia. LTL it is called limited truck load. Loading Mng, unloading Ltv. Could take a week or a year to find such cargo space.

Air Cargo, Turkish Airlines I think, but they will route via Istanbul. No flights over Russian airspace.

Shared sea container through a European port. Its called LCL limited container load. Takes ages, and before such a container moves could take years.
If your customer is really desperate, FCL or FTL, but think 6000-10.000 euro. You pay for the while car/container.”

How long will that work, if the Western sanctions against Russia are increasing from day to day? The time, that Russia is striking back will come and I believe, the Baltic states will be hit as first for their hard execution of the sanctions....

I do not think it’s practical or wise to import felts from Mongolia. Very risky with the current situation.
