Default Window installation

We are adding a second yurt at our place. The first is a 20 ft. used as a family room, guest quarters etc. This next one is a 24 ft. to be a little more of a home. We are planning on putting in regular windows and could use some tips.
Can anyone share?

Thanks, Bill

Here is a yurt window retrofit video that might be helpful:

Thanks JAFO. I watched that a couple of times. We'll be building our own window frames but the video was helpful.

I'm having the same thoughts. Currently I'm thinking of a floor to cieling 'panel' made of wood that contains the window in a floating frame, and which ias anchor points for the lattice and the fabric cover.

Wood is strongest in tension, so I think it can take the pressure. Essentially it would be like making three door units but two of them just have a window.

When I've worked out how I will make this, I'll post a drawing. I think this could also provide a safe exit for a stove chimney.

Thanks, I think I have it worked out. We drove over to

Pacific Yurts

yesterday and looked at their models. They have two different techniques: one for the snow/wind upgraded framing and one for the standard framing. We have the standard framing and will go with that. That info with

Colorado Yurts

video should do the trick.

Can anyone provide information on how to build a frame for a window that we want to install above the sink in our yurt. We have a Pacific Yurt and they do not offer smaller windows that would go above a sink or kitchen countertop. Been doing some research. I expect someone must have done this. Thank you….Katie
