I now have a door that isn't nearly as wonky as it was! My new work is on a small construction crew nearby, which is willing to train someone with minimal experience.
The long and short of it, for this door anyway, was more screws. I put more in the top and sides of the frame, and used the screws to pull it in ideal directions.
The result is a door where the deadbolt and knob-latch line up with their sockets without having to pull the door up every time. Revolutionary!
