Default Rafter construction

Hello! I bought a used 30' yurt with 2x4 rafters. I need 2x6 rafters for where I live so I'm going to fabricate new rafters. Does anyone have a template for where the crotches and pins go on a 2x6 rafter? Are the pins the same for 2x4 and 2x6 rafters? For the

dome

ring, it is currently made of 2 layers of 2x6's. I was planning on putting on a third layer so that the width would be correct for a 2x6. Does this sound right?
Thanks!

I would contact them, I am sure they would give you the details. It is different for every yurt brand:

I have contacted them repeatedly, with no luck. I was hoping that someone in the community here might be able to provide some insight.

That doesn't surprise me. It took a bit but now I remember those people. Here is a thread in case you were wondering:

They have had a rough history of not being the best at customer support. I have no ideas for you other than to perhaps try a local contractor?

The problem is, each yurt is designed differently.

Maybe try to contact them to PURCHASE a single rafter? At least then you could clone it..

Do you happen to live in New England by chance? I know someone who might be able to help you on site if you do.

A yurt ring made of 3 layers of 2x lumber is 4.5" in thickness. A 2x6 rafter installed on the typical ~25 degree angle of a yurt roof has a plumb cut of about 5.75". Rafters and joists abutting a beam are attached with a joist or rafter anchor. I have seen those used on yurts. Cheap and bombproof install. Rafters are fixed and can not move up down or laterally.

I notice the pin and the crotch are dead center at either end of the 2x4 rafter. I am planning on putting them in the same place of new 2x6 rafter unless anyone suggests otherwise!
