Oval yurt with cross ties

Has anyone built an oval yurt? What are the limits without cross ties? Has anyone built one with cross ties (to hold the oval shape). I would like to build one as a meeting/learning space with the wood stove and door at one end and the learning space toward the other. I currently use a round yurt and the woodstove pushes into the space too much. I also like the feeling of an oval space.
