Oval yurt with cross ties

Has anyone built an oval yurt? What are the limits without cross ties? Has anyone built one with cross ties (to hold the oval shape). I would like to build one as a meeting/learning space with the wood stove and door at one end and the learning space toward the other. I currently use a round yurt and the woodstove pushes into the space too much. I also like the feeling of an oval space.

I've seen them recently while looking around the net. So it can be done. Do a search and you may come across some. If I can find the info/pics again i'll pass it on. There is also two story (self suspended from lower roof) yurts that have been built. Hard to find info on them. Pretty cool though!!

Interesting structure. Reminds me of yurt version of a Viking longhouse.
