I have seen ads for wool carpet padding, seems like this could be a close replacement for Mongol wool felting. Has anyone tried it?

For inside the lattice I still like the idea of the bright rugs and other hangings, except over the standard windows. But even on them a night time drop cover could be good.

I want

insulation

for sure, between the lattice and the cover, the very last thing under the cover will be Tyvek. Then come in with something additional. What intrigued me about the wool rug padding is it can be had in suitable widths to hang on the inside of the covering of the wall.

Thank you for keeping this going. I decided to go with a 2" foam

insulation

under the floor on top of tyvek with hopes that leaves enough room for the future radiant heat flooring when we move back to cold country.

As for the sides and top I have yet to make a decision. Just so much more work to do yet.

Will the foam insulation stand up to compacting from walking on it?

The tyvek is a good bet for all around, floor, walls and roof.

I will not be walking on the foam insulation. It will be be inbetween the floor joists.

I will have 2x4 joists on 16" center that will be on top of the complete deck. Tyvek then 2" Foam insulation followed by 3/4" T&G OSB followed by T&G bamboo flooring.

Sounds good, pricey but good.

Are your winters all that cold in Savanah?

Supposed to get down to 33 tonight and it is mid March but it is usually not this cold this late. Got down to 19 for a few days but not also the norm. Trying to keep out the heat really. Weeks of high 90's is the hard part.

I actually thought it sounded pretty cheap considering what others were paying for only on platform and this is for two with a deck.

Theres as many different pricings as there are ways of doing it. Each to his own, and the area has a big effect on prices to.

I still havent heard yet of anyone using the wool carpet felt pads under wall and roof covers. Nor have I checked the prices on it to compare with. I am beginning to see where going to Ulan Batur for Naadam could have a lot of value seeing how they do it and doing as close as I can.
