Putting a yurt on a deck. Anyone got any grand ideas for insulting water from where it comes out of the ground until it goes through the floor. Our deck will be a ft or 2 off the ground. Pics would help. Thanks

Build a 2x chase around the exposed pipe. Thoroughly insulate the inside of the box. Screw on one of the side panels so you can gain access. This works very well until extreme bitter cold below zerowhere electrical heat tape wrapped around the pipe itself will be necessary to prevent freezing.

Oh, and also wrap foam pipe wrap around the supply and seal with tape. That is a good plan in the floor framing as well.

I would do what Bob says, but do wrap the pipe in electric

heating

tape. It doesn't mean you always have to have it turned on, but better to have it on those really cold days.
