Default Article about permitting a yurt

Quote:
Charette’s yurt is a good example. To handle the Teton climate, he went for the deluxe version, a yurt with the full snow and wind package.

“It’s built better than most houses,” he said.
Although some parts of the story are not quite accurate, for the most part it is. For example, reflectix doesn't reflect cold, it reflects heat. You can't reflect cold because cold is the absence of heat lol. Anyway, for those of you going through the full time permitting battle:

This is a customer of ours, in fact. It's a good article, with some fairly large inaccuracies. But, the basic point is there.
The building official says: "in most cases they cannot meet international building codes"- This is not true of engineered yurts. Our yurts meet IBC structural code.
Another inaccuracy- no yurt can withstand 225 mph wind (is there wind like that anywhere?)
And, finally- they say "Google search showed basic yurts costing around $5,000 to $10,000". They obviously didn't understand that most yurts are custom built from a base price and have many upgrades.

Yeah I was thinking some of those same things. I just laughed at the 225mph claim.

And I was thinking, "I would really love to be able to pass this article on to our city officials for basic info, but some of the facts seem to be a bit squirrely."
I was also thinking "damn. 225 mph. Who made that yurt?" Now I know
