Do the original owners know where they purchased the yurt?

Based on the photo you posted I can say that it is not a Pacific Yurt. It appears that it could be a Laurel Nest Yurt. I would suggest contacting them through their web site Laurel Nest Yurts. Otherwise you might try contacting AIA Industries (Skylights from AIA Skylights - Velux, Replacement, Custom Skylights) to see if one of their stock sizes of

dome

skylights will work for you.

thanks for the tip, I just called and emailed them a few hours ago. If I order from AIA how much overlap do you think I need, the opening in the wood framing is 34 inches from one flat side of the octagonal wood frame to the opposite flat side?

The outer edge of the skylight should extend beyond the outermost circumference of the

center ring

. Ideally the outer flange would then turn downward. You should measure the

center ring

at its widest point.

I don't recognize that yurt from any manufacturer, but it looks decently made... The

dome

size is an immediate give away that it isn't one of the leaders in the industry. There's are all about 5' in diameter. Good guess on Laurel Nest. Hal and Asia will be willing to help you find an adequate dome even if it isn't one of theirs.

Let us know how that turns out, would you? I haven't worked with Yurts of America/Great American/Yurts-r-us in many years but would love to hear if they get you a satisfactory product in a reasonable amount of time. I know they have put in a lot of work to turn things around there over the years.
