Staying Warm/cool in a Yurt in the High Desert?

Does anyone have a yurt in a place that ranges from below-freezing in winter to 100+ in summer? What level of insulation and other features is required to be 4-season comfortable? Any issues with...

They use a cable around the roof's perimeter for an anchor and make brackets out of plumber's tape.
