Do portable air conditioners work in yurts?

To prevent the batts from slumping it might be possible to lay precut lengths of backed batt down on precut plastic sheeting. Tape the flange on the batt to the plastic using that foil tape that hvac guys use. Then fold and seal the edges of plastic around the batt using the same tape.

packs could be hung, stacked on edge, stuffed above rafters. Easily fit curved surfaces. You know that just might be a real winner for insulating yurts.

This is an old thread but I use a portable unit in my 16ft yurt. It does a great job cooling until temp reaches over 100. Good to know: my yurt has the standard insulation package, rigid foam over the lattice walls, with fabric over that and real windows installed.

How so you install the mini-split? I'm thinking about adding this to our classroom yurts but I wasn't sure about the 1). Noise and 2). where/how to run the ducting on a cloth yurt, 3). how do you mount the indoor unit?

I have a mini-split in my home, not in my yurt but it would be an easy install in a yurt. They are VERY quiet and ductless. You would mount the indoor unit on the studs, assuming your yurt has one.
