My yurt is quite similar to the pics on 'rotten luck guild yurt'. Google for pics.

15'9" diameter. 5'3" to lattice cross on khana, 8"2" to bottom of toono. khana is 1.5" x 5/16ths x 90" lattice. (ripped from 2x4) 8 holes per lattice, 12" centers, 1/4" carriage bolt with nylok nuts. note-no washers since washers rattle in the wind.

Toono is two 3/4" exterior grade plywood rings, 31" outside dia, 23" inside dia., sandwiching 2.5" x 3.5" spacer wedges. Wedges made from 8' 4x4 ripped to 2.5", and mitered to appropriate angle to leave a constant width 3/4" slot. Spacer wedges glued and screwed to the plywood with construction adhesive. Bomb proof toono.

That leaves 35 slots for 1x3 rafters. 33 rafters rest notched into the 33 lattice crosses, and two sit notched onto the door frame.

The door is my version of a mongolian five panel design, of half lapped construction, three vertical panels between a top and bottom panel.

3/16ths vinyl coated tension cable. I have the cable encircling the entire yurt, including over the door frame.

Every last piece of wood was hand painted. Primed, and two coats of green Rustoleum alkyd enamel.

The wall canvas is cheap painter drop cloth, stitched by myself. I haven't made the roof cover yet. Researching canvas brought me to this site.
