New member saying hello
Hello yurt forum community.....just registered today and this is my first post.
Im thinking of building a yurt on some property i own near my house as a place to stay year-round if i rent my house seasonally or on weekends. I am located in upstate NY near the Catskills. A friend of mine did the same and he really likes his and its something i would do too.
I think my first question is how long can i expect the yurt shell to last and look good, even the best quality brands with upgrades, and if a replacement will be available say 15 or 20 years later as an exactmatch if i want or need a new shell? I am 44 years old and want to have whatever i choose to build to last longer than me.
Im comparing pros and cons of building a small cabin vs a yurt vs a tiny house on wheels. Obviously all different animals and range of cost. I know i would be happy in all, but the cost per sq footage of a yurt is a big bonus, and i live alone a dont have to worry or think about what others would say or think....in fact my real friends would all be quite envious of a yurt and would want one themselves
Id love to hear your thoughts and knowledge. Thank you.
