I live in a high wind area. A few times a year we have 60+ mph winds & many times we hit over the 30+ mark.
We have 2 attached 30ft yurts that have wind & snow kits & are the vinyl covering type from Great Lakes Yurt Co.
Our problems:
Our valences regularly are flapped up any time it gets windy (I've been told this problem should get less severe as this will be our first summer & the sun will stiffen them).
When it gets very windy it can make our roof quite loud as the cover moves up & down against the reflectx
& beams. I've looked at our rooft many times & it doesn't seem like we constructed anything wrong. However, it is loud & in general I don't like the movement as I worry about wear.
I'm not entirely sure whether a bit of this movement is due to the valences getting flipped up & air getting between the wall & roof cover connection.
Solutions:
1. I've thought about sealing the roof cover valences to the walls with silicone, velcro, or something similar.
2. I've thought about getting nylon strapping & creating something of a simple netting across the roof & securing it.
Is there any reason I shouldn't pursue these solutions?
Are there better solutions I'm not considering?
Any other considerations I should take?
